Jake Preda - A Return To Common Ground Environmental Responsibility Over Controversial Actions, That Can Bridge The Political Divide

The Purpose of this Blog is to gather my thoughts on the topic of Environmental Responsibility with the purpose of exploring the divide, and attempting to bridge the controversial gaps between most political leanings, by returning to the approach of establishing common understanding and building agreement.

Introduction: I was in 8th grade in 1994 my English class was tasked with a research project and since I had an interest in science from an early age, I chose the topic of 'Global Warming' from a list of other topics.  Since I found English class annoying and boring, I was happy to get away with doing science-related work instead of having to read some stupid work of fiction (my sentiment at the time).

I hit the library and Encyclopedia Britannica.  I just got a Pentium 90mhz computer for my birthday with a CD-ROM and a digital version of the Britannica with charts that I could copy and paste into my report--it was a fun time.   I got an A on that report and I can still recall the BAR-GRAPHS with specific projections for the rest of the 1990s, 2000's, 2010's, etc.   I felt very empowered and informed as a young man thereafter and continued to learn more science and gain more environmental-related knowledge, especially as I began acing Earth Science, Biology, and Physics classes into High School.  Looking back at the time, the proposals and competing ideas to combat Global Warming that I absorbed at 14 years old in 1994, have not changed much until the mid 2010's.  Little apparent measurable progress was made during that time that was commensurate with the scale of the problem that science teachers and professors were attempting to educate the public on.  Then in the mid 2010's, things got more complicate, and in my opinion, the "new ideas" focused on by the media and loudest proponents of environmental responsibility ceased to be TEACHERS & ENGINEERS, and began to be activists--whereby these activists changed the scene from stopping-the-attempt to convince the entire US population to take Global Warming seriously, and to rebrand as 'Climate Change'.  Climate Change, to me, sounded more scientifically accurate, until I listened to a detractor say 'that makes even less sense than Global Warming because the climate has always changed' - and that was the 1st truly valid point I heard from 'the other side' at the time.  So I began to think and consider where the common ground was on morality, culture, religion, economics, and the hard science--and that's what I would like to focus on in this blog, hoping to plead with the hard-liners on both sides (let's not use the R-word--'radicals').  I hope to be able to post this online as I debate the issue in good faith and am able to refer them to this blog to save time on proving my intentions.

Looking back, my 8th grade report for English Class depicted conservative projections that turned out to be very accurate to the actual pollution and environmental challenges we aggregated into the 2020's--if anything, the projections came up short to the gravity of today's problems--but that's science getting the methodology right. You don't want to sensationalize, and grab headlines with exaggeration and attention-getting-devices.

This blog is a work in progress....pardon the spelling, grammar, or diction errors. Thank you.
